Ronny R. Anderson

Sheriff Anderson started his employment with Cumberland County in 1977 as a Corrections Officer. In 1978 he was hired as a Deputy Sheriff and moved up through the ranks where he served as the elected Sheriff from 2009 until his retirement in 2021. During this time period he also worked for the Newville Police Department and North Middleton Police Department between 1980 and 1995.

Sheriff Anderson graduated from Carlisle High School in 1975 and attended Harrisburg Area Community College. He is a graduate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Corrections Academy, the Pennsylvania Deputy Sheriffs’ Academy and the Municipal Police Academy held at the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in Hershey, PA.

He holds several appointments as a criminal justice advisory board member to Cumberland – Perry Vocational Technical School as well as a committee member for the Criminal Justice Subcommittee of the South Central Task Force. Sheriff Anderson has also served on the executive board as Second Vice President and currently serves as a representative to the Pennsylvania Association of Elected Officials for the Pennsylvania Sheriffs’ Association.
